Abstract: This study was conducted in two phases. In phase one soil samples were taken from three different locations, namely Juba, South Sudan, El Hassahesa, Gezira state and Soba, Khartoum state during October 2011. The purpose of this study was to detect if there are any pesticides residues in the areas of study. The study revealed that Deltamethrin was the only pesticide detected in the three locations. Pendimethalin, a herbicide, was only detected in El Hassahesa. The study also showed that none of the known organochlorines such as DDT, Endosulfan and heptachlor were detected. In the other phase of the study a survey was conducted to evaluate the awareness of the farmers about safe pesticides use. The study revealed that Juba farmers were the least abiding by pesticides recommended doses (66.7%), whereas El Hassahesa farmers were the VII ‫‪showed a complete ignorance among juba farmers about both, the‬‬ ‫.)‪aximum residual Limits (MRLs) and acceptable daily intake (ADI‬‬
