Factors Affecting in Construction Projects’ Cost In Sudan- case study Khartoum state

Abstract

The construction industry in Sudan has witnessed rapid growth in recent years, the emergence of mega projects and strategic projects and the entry of foreign companies of large names. This has led to the growth of the entry of modern technologies in construction projects, this rapid rate of construction movement was not matched by the presence of qualified and trained expertise and manpower required for this accelerated activity. This research discusses the main factors that affect the construction cost in Sudan, The questionnaire was designed to identify these factors. A survey in Khartoum state the capital of Sudan was conducted, which included 50 companies as samples for this study. This survey resulted 40 major factors which affect the construction cost in Sudan their factors tested by the statistical analysis program was used is SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science), The elements influencing the cost of construction projects were arranged on the basis of the importance index and the correlation and consensus between the participants in this research was discussed. According to the risk score index the inflation rates, design changes and tax increases are factors that affect the cost of projects. Based on this study, guidelines have been developed to be easy to use to evaluate and control factors affecting cost in construction companies and a set of recommendations have been mentioned
