Abstract: The main objective of this research to study PE by using CT The study was carried out at Yastabshiroon Hospital and Daralelag Hospital in Khartoum, during the period from April 2017 to September 2017. A sample of 50 patients (22 males and 28 females) with clinically diagnosed of PE , underwent CTA and were grouped according to sex, according to age the study finding in 20 patients (40%) with age range (66-75) years,15 patients (30%) with age range (56-65) years ,8 patients (16%) with range (35-45) years, 7 patients (14%) with range (46-55) years ,and , according to this result PE is more common in elder patients (66-75) years, the incident of pulmonary embolism is common in elder patients. The study showed the incident of PE more common in females (56%) than males (44%). The common site affected in pulmonary embolism is both sides, and most common type of PE acute massive (62%) than acute minor(8%). The multi-slides computerized tomography studies of the pulmonary small vessels can provide higher-quality images than those obtained at single and dual slide CT. It concluded that CT scanning is the only test of choice that provide significant additional information related to alternate diagnoses.
