This is an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study. Aimed at determining the frequency and distribution of ABO, ABO subgroup and Rhesus Rh (D) blood groups and possibility of association with Breast cancer (BC) among 200 hospitalized histo- pathologically diagnosed Sudanese women with the BC in Khartoum state during the period from up April to May 2011. Age range was 17-83 years old, treated or on follow-up in Radio Isotope Center Khartoum (RICK). Some informations were obtained by questionnaire; such as age, race, family history, has children, menopausal status, histological type and grade of cancer and metastases . A three ml of venous blood were collected in EDTA, originally collected for routine clinical purposes. ABO, ABO subgroup and Rh D grouping was performed buy slide method. Distribution of ABO blood groups among study population were 44.5%, 31%, 18.5% and 6% for blood group O, A, B and AB respectively. Moreover the distribution of ABO subgroups was 29%, 5.5%, 2% and 0.5% for subgroups A1, A1B, A2 and A2B respectively. While the distribution Rhesus group 98.5% and 1.5% for Rh D (+) ve and Rh D (–) ve respectively. These results of the present study also show positive association of blood groups of BC patients on one hand and race and histological grade of cancer on the other hand. This study concluded that Blood group O Rh (+) ve observed with highest frequency among Sudanese women with barest cancer.en_US
