Abstract: Across sectional study conducted during the period from February to June 2011. In this study , haemoglobin , iron and urea were estimated in 45 pregnant women during normal pregnancy (15 in first trimester,15 in second trimester, 15 in third trimester), and 15 apparently healthy non pregnant women included as control group. During first, second and third trimester of pregnancy The mean of blood levels of haemoglobin and urea were significantly decreased in pregnant women when compared with non pregnant women (P value while there was no significant effect in the iron of pregnant group during first trimester when compared with non pregnant group(P value , but a remarkable significant decrease occured at second and third trimesters, Areduction of about 32% and 41% of control was seen for second and third trimester respectively was seen . The remarkable decrease of serum iron specially in second and third trimesters compared with control coupled with reduction of hemoglobin, may suggest that some pregnant women of this study developed anemia.
