Abstract: In this study, we investigated a computer aided diagnosis system for skin cancer detection problem. Early detection of skin cancer has the ability to reduce mortality and morbidity. There are many diagnostic technologies and tests to diagnose skin cancer. Conventional diagnosis method for skin cancer detection is Biopsy method. It is done by removing or scraping off skin and that sample under goes a series of laboratory testing. To prevent these problems, we are using a neural network system (NN) as promising modalities for detection of skin cancer. The different stages of detection involves collection of Dermoscopic images, filtering the images for removing hairs and noises, segmenting the images using region of Interest (ROIs), feature extraction using GLCM and c1assification using Artificial Neural Network (ANN).It c1assifies the given data set into cancerous or cancerous image. The classifiers have been used to classify subjects as normal or abnormal skin cancer images. A classification with a success of 91.6% has been obtained by the Artificial Neural Network(ANN).
