Abstract: This thesis treat the behavior of the motion of the plate as it was initially at rest and then suddenly moved at t=0 with a smooth function V(t) . This ow is known as stokes rst problem, which has the initial and only pulled side .The uids considered here are the Newtonian and second grade uids. The equation of velocity of this ow problem for these uids are obtained and their exact solution are established using the methods of laplace , Fourier sine and similarity transforms. However the last one fails to solve this ow problem for second grade uid. This thesis display precedent results as simple way.
