Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the awareness of university students about grammatical differences between American and British English and to examine the impact of these differences on students and to explore to what extent. The researcher used the descriptive analysis method is addition to experimental method. A test was given to 25 1st year students at college of languages at Sudan University of Science and Technology. The main results reached were that EFL learners aren’t able to distinguish between British and American Grammar, and tend to use the British variety more than the American variety. Based on the results the researcher recommended that American grammar rules should be explained as a long as British, and teachers should be trained to use American grammar in teaching process
