Abstract: This study is descriptive study by use of statistical package for social science (SPSS) because it gives more specific and accurate data analysis. General objective to identify the role of DEXA scan in the diagnosis of bone density. Specific objectives to monitor the ability of DEXA in diagnostic of the osteoporosis, to monitor the ability ofDEXA in diagnosis of the osteopenia and to identify the role of DEXA scan to measure increase bone density. The study was done in Khartoum state Fedail Hospital. In period between January 2017 – March 2017 used DEXA scan to evaluate the bone density for 30 patients, whom their ages were range between (25 – 100 yr.). The result demonstrates the DEXA scan is most accurate and sensitive in diagnoses to evaluated bone density. DEXA scan is most accurate and sensitive in diagnoses osteoporosis (100%) and osteopenia (100%). Osteoporosis is result by decrease calcium serum in BMD , increase when age increase ( 50% ), increase in females more than males ( 47.4% ) because post menopause females had decrease in estrogen, increase in the thin ( 57.1% ), increase when height decrease ( 80% ). Osteopenia are result by decrease calcium serum in BMD, increase when age increase ( 57.2% ), increase in males more than females ( 45.4% ) because BMD decrease when testrogen decrease and increase the age in the males, increase when the thin ( 42% ), increase when height decrease ( 57.1% )
