dc.description.abstract | It was uncommon to encounter patients who undergo repeated X-ray examinations, after their initial x-ray were rejected, for poor image quality. Thereby, subjecting them to excess radiation exposure and extra cost. This creates a satiation which necessitates the need to explore the cause of the rejection and repeating of the x-ray examinations. The employment of the Film reject analysis, as a port of the overall Quality assurance (QA) programmes, especially in clinical radiography and radiography services, in general, in the evaluation of radiographic image quality. The main purpose of this study, was to assess, at (Khartoum Teaching hospital, Elshab teaching hospital and the ENT hospital), in Khartoum states, and to evaluate the outcome of the image quality in those departments. “Rejected film analysis” was used for the three x-ray departments, across all plain x-ray examinations, using “Repeat Analysis Worksheet” during one month, to determine the incidence of technical errors that affect the radiographic image quality. To obtain the opinion of the x-ray technologists about the quality, at the department a questionnaire was distributed to the employees, including the students working in the departments. Most of the employees think that the percentage of quality of the radiographs, was is percent, from the total work, with the main reasons, for rejection, being under and overexposure, which coincides with the results of the “film Reject Analysis”. Analyzing the result of the collected data showed that the overall rejected rate, was 7.7%, in 2901 exposed films for the three hospitals. The study had shown common causes of technical errors, which were underexposure, overexposure and patient’s motion. Due to the above, the research revealed the findings of the technical errors, and recommended a regular and continuous quality assurance (QA) programmes, as an acute need. | en_US |
