Abstract

This research is entitled '' the adjective's position in the French sentence and the effect of that on the meaning; analytical study.'' Since the study of language is concerned with the importance of the linguistic vales, so this research investigates how adjective is positioned in the sentence and investigates the adjective's role in changing the meaning according to its position in the sentence either before the noun or after it. The study in carried out through an analytical and descriptive approach. Research objectives This study aims at showing the importance of knowing the adjective and its types and correct position in the French sentence. It also shows the adjective's role in changing the meaning according to its position in the sentence; being placed either before the noun or after it, and sometimes its meaning may not change. The study aims at helping French learners in both written and spoken language by showing the adjective's value in French. Additionally, the study of adjective in the French sentence will open the door for learners to acquisition of French. In this study, the researcher arrive, at the following results; the decline in female students understanding of adjective, especially understanding of placing adjective in its correct position. Wrong translation of meaning, without paying attention to the fact that adjective meaning sometimes change according to its position before the noun or after it. Recommendations Supporting students by increasing the lectures which are related to language learning, especially lectures which are concerned with studying adjective in French language. Developing language teaching by using Sophisticated devices like educational activities through computer network and other tools. Intensive exercises in the correct are of adjective in the sentence according to the intended meaning in French language
