Abstract: | This study carried out in soba university hospital in Khartoum state which is equipped by high quality ultrasound machine type Aloka SSD 3500 with high frequency transducer 7.5 MHz. A total of 50 patients were recruited for this study all of them suffer from the foot mycetoma. Their ages between (8-55) years and most of them were undergone routine plain x-ray. The study verified that the ultrasound examination of foot mycetoma is simple, reproducible, and low cost and not need special technique like other examinations. The ultrasound examination is able to diagnose the foot mycetoma and differentiate its types fungal and bacterial with high accuracy. The main findings of this study show the foot mycetoma more common in males (72%) than females (28%), Most common affected age between 24-31 (34%) and also between 32-39 (20%), the most common area in Sudanis the Aljazeera state (57%) of all cases and the fungal type (80%) more common than bacterial type (20%). |
