The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) among blood donors attending National Blood Transfusion Center- in Khartoum during period from March to June 2012. One hundred and eighty blood donors were enrolled in this study. Blood specimens were collected and examined by ELISA technique. The anti HIV antibodies were detected among 2 (1.1%). Most of the examined donors were males 176 (96.5%), young adult (21-30) and most of them were single 108 (57.5%).The study showed that there is no significant relationship between the positive results and the history of previous surgical operation, or blood transfusion because no one from the studied population had a history of blood transfusion. At the end the serodetection of anti HIV among the studied population is not large, but, people working in blood transfusion center must take good care when they ‫‪handle blood bags and specimens and destroy any‬‬ ‫.‪positive results‬‬en_US
