Abstract: This study aims to investigate the influence of reading in developing vocabulary knowledge, the main aim of this study is to show the importance of reading skill in developing vocabulary. The study data were collected through questionnaire. It was designed and distributed to (15) students at Sudan University of Science and Technology. The respondents who participated in this study were randomly selected from the fourth year students. The researcher used descriptive analytical method. The study found out that reading regularly broaden and increase vocabulary; in addition to that reading is thinking process so more time should be given to reading tasks. The findings also show that vocabulary play an important role in successful reading. The study recommends that teachers should teach reading with suitable and enjoyable way to attract learners, also teachers should use a systematic strategies in reading skill.
