The Morphological and Physiological Patterns of Anemia Among Anemic Renal Failure Patients in El Gezira State

Abstract

This analytical descriptive study cross sectional case control was conducted in Elgezira state during period from 20 April to 3 July to determine morphological and physiological patterns of anemia among chronic renal failure patients ,blood samples were collected from 70 patients with chronic renal failure as case group male (43 ) , female (27) , less than 30 years (18) more than 30 years (52) and thirty blood samples from healthily individuals as control group male (22) , female (8) less than 30 years (5) more than 30 years (25) . Structure questionnaire used to collect information about age ,gender and erythropoietin supplement . Data obtained were analyzed using soft ware program statistical package of social science (SPSS version 16) . The result showed significant difference between the means level ,of patients and control group in following parameters ,hemoglobin ,hematocrit and , RBCs count.(p values <0.05). The study explained that the patterns of peripheral blood among study group 57-(81%) were normocytic normochromic type and consider to be highest prevalence morphological type of anemia among chronic renal failure patients 8(11.4%) dimorphic picture and 5(7.1%)microcytic hypochromic . erythropoietin supplement in case group were (70) (100%) and some of them taking irregularly . ‫
