Abstract: Uterine fibroids are one of the most common gynecological disorders, and though it is a benign tumor, it can be a cause of major problems such as pain, bleeding, infertility and consequent financial impacts. This study deals with the study of uterine fibroids using ultrasound in Dongola City .The general objective of this study was to study uterine fibroids and their incidence in different age group using ultra sound. It was carried out on 50 patients with symptomatic or asymptomatic of uterine fibroids includes Hospital and Clinics. The study was conducted from June up to December 2011. The machines used in the study were Toshiba with 3-5 MHz and Aloka machine with 3.5 MHz, probes was convex with frequencies ranging from 3-4MHz. All patient were prepared by full bladder and using trans-abdominal probe. All patients scanned with supine position technique . After the detailed literary work the study comes to conclusion that subserous fibroid is the commonest type of uterine fibroids among females in Dongola which is constitute 44%, and the most affected age group(41-48)years which is constitute(38%) .The study reveal that most submucous and intramural fibroids are hypoechoic in texture .The study shows that sub serous and sub mucous type are more common in patients of age (33- 40)years,while intra mural type common in age group(41-48) years which constitute 12%. The most common symptoms of fibroids is abnormal uterine bleeding which constitute 64%. The study recommended that ultrasound should be provide in all hospitals in Sudan
