Abstract: This study was carried out in khartoum state during the period from june 2014 to july 2014, to asses multi drug resistant bacteria isolated from stethoscopes. Two hundred swab were collected from Omdourman Hospital, Bahry Hospital, Mialatary Hospital and Ibrahim Malik Hospital. The specimens were collected , cultured and identified by research laboratory. Reientification of the isolate was done by subculture on MaConkey agar, gram stain and biochemical tests. Modified Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method was adopted to determine resistance of bacteria to several drugs, and the results were obtained as follow: Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae are multi drug resistant bacteria, for amoxicillin, tetracyclin, ampicillin and ceftazidime. Proteus spp. are multi drug resistant bacteria for amoxicillin, ampicillin and ceftazidime. Staphylococcus aureus is multi drug resistant bacteria for oxacillin vancomycin, erythromycin and clindamycin. The study conclude that Enterobacteriaceae more resistant to ampicillin, ceftazidim and amoxicillin. Staph spp. more resistant to oxacillin, ceftazidime and clindamycin.
