Abstract: Phytochemical screening of the alcoholic extraction of the orange peels indicate the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids and glycosides.it was decided to investigate the flavonoids of this herb due to their medicinal value and relative abundance. The crude product obtained from the alcoholic extract was re extracted with chloroform ,butanol and ethyl acetate . the chloroform extracte gave positive test of flavonoids . The chloroform extracte was subjected to paper chromatography , which indicated the presence of one major flavonoids . This flavonoids was obtained in the pure state by preparative paper chromatography .The spectral studies (UV-IR) of this flavonoids indicated that it is Adihydroflavonols. IR spectra (KBr) Showed 3384.84 (OH) , 1610.45(C=O) , 1049.20 (C-O) , 1454.23,1419.51 (C=C Ar) and 2927.74 cm -1 ( C-H aliph) UV spectra showed λ max 330 for the compound
