This analytical case control study was conducted at El-Ribat national hospital to determine complete blood count in patient with chronic renal failure ,A questionnaire was used for direct interview and the objective of the study was clearly explained to all individuals participating in the study .the study included 200 individuals ,100 are patients with CKD 47 male and53 female age between 27-82(mean are 50±SD) and 100 as control all adult .100 blood samples were collected from patients with chronic renal failure and under hemodialysis and from control .Five ml of venous blood was collected in EDTA container ,the following investigation were carried out Hemoglobin ,Hematocrit ,Red Blood Cell count ,Mean Corpuscular volume ,Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin ,Mean Corpuscular hemoglobin concentration ,Total white blood cell and platelets count using an automated hematological analyzer (sysmex ,modle kX21) The data was analyzed using software program statistical package social science (SPSS). The result showed that for patient comparison with control that there was highly significant decrease in mean of Hb level (8.95 ) p value(.000) ,mean of PCV (29.02 ) p value (.000 ) ,mean of RBCS ×106 /ml (3.38 ) p value (.000),but in case of MCV (81.58 ) p value (.000) ,mean MCH ( 27.86 ) p value (.002 ) mean MCHC (30.17 ) p value (.000), lower than control but still in normal range . but there is no effect on platelets and white blood cell count . In conclusion the hemoglobin level, red blood cells count and packed cell volume are decreased as result of chronic renal failure .en_US
