    <title>Control of Induction Motor Drive using Artificial Neural Network</title>

    <description>Title: Control of Induction Motor Drive using Artificial Neural Network
Authors: Ali, Taifour; Abbas, Abdelaziz Y. M.; Osman, Ekram Hassabo Abaid
Abstract: The induction motor drive is a dynamic nonlinear system with uncertainty in the machine&#xD;
parameters. The aim of this study is to improve tracking performance of the induction motor drive. A method&#xD;
for controlling induction motor drive is presented with conventional Proportional-Integral (PI) controller and&#xD;
Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) controller. MATLAB/SIMULINK software is used to develop a three&#xD;
phase induction motor model. Also the performances of the two controllers have been verified. The ANN is&#xD;
trained so that the speed of the drive tracks the reference speed. It is found that with the use of the ANN&#xD;
controller the performance and dynamics of the induction motor are enhanced as compared with that of a&#xD;
conventional PI controller.

    <title>Deformational Mechanism and Tectonic Evolution of Mesozoic-Cenozoic Nonmarine Basins from Bohai Bay Basin - China</title>
    <link>https://repository.sustech.edu/handle/123456789/20557</link>
    <description>Title: Deformational Mechanism and Tectonic Evolution of Mesozoic-Cenozoic Nonmarine Basins from Bohai Bay Basin - China
Authors: Hussein, Rashid A.M.; Xiaomin, Zhu
Abstract: Bohai Bay Basin，China, is a rift basin developed in Mesozoic-Cenozoic time span.&#xD;
It was compressionally deformed during Caledonian Orogeny and situated on a Paleozoic platform&#xD;
“old craton” basement and later subjected to extensional stress and induced major strike-slip&#xD;
(wrench) fault. The basin opening transpired on a series of half-grabens trending NNE-SSW in&#xD;
Bohai Bay Basin zone. Models for deformational mechanism and evolution of the Bohai Bay Basin,&#xD;
China, and its tectonic and stratigraphic history were proposed. Two separate scenarios were set for&#xD;
the evolution of Bohai Bay Basin: the first is based on the changes in plate convergence rates along&#xD;
the eastern plate boundary of Eurasia/ Pacific plates which have additional role in the extensional&#xD;
skin of Bohai Bay Basin in certain stage of extension or rifting and the second is a model of three&#xD;
major incidents of extensional tectonism: basement pre-rifting, a syn-rift stage, and a post-rift sag&#xD;
stage were documented for Bohai Bay Basin. The major factor controlling the lacustrine basins is&#xD;
global eustasy; however, the role of global tectonic played a significant control mechanism in the&#xD;
evolution and development of Bohai Bay Basin.

    <title>Assessment of the Effect of Increasing Local Bentonite Concentration on Drilling Fluids Rheology and Filtration Properties</title>
    <link>https://repository.sustech.edu/handle/123456789/20556</link>
    <description>Title: Assessment of the Effect of Increasing Local Bentonite Concentration on Drilling Fluids Rheology and Filtration Properties
Authors: Hussein, Rashid.A.M.; Elemam, Abusabah.E.; Mohamed, Sumya.A.; Ibrahim, Ahmed.A.
Abstract: This study carried out to assess the effect of increasing bentonite percentage (solid&#xD;
phase) on rheological properties and filtration loss for water base drilling fluid prepared from&#xD;
local bentonite (Umm Ali area). Chemical tests were carried out to assess quality of local&#xD;
bentonite. In this study Carboxymethyle Cellulose CMC is used to increase viscosity and&#xD;
decrease filtration loss. The major finding showed that when adding 7% of CMC and 7% of local&#xD;
bentonite, the rheological properties, filter loss and yield point to plastic viscosity ratio will be&#xD;
within the acceptable range of American Petroleum Institute (API) specifications
