Authors: Z, Hajir, E; A, Elmugdad, A
Abstract: A new, precise and accurate reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method was developed for determination of phenytoin. Method was carried out by isocratic technique on a reverse-phase HPLC using a column of C8 inertstil (4.6 x 250) mm, 5µm column with a mobile phase mixture of 500cm3 water, 400cm3 absolute methanol and 100cm3 acetonitrile. The flow rate was adjusted at 2cm3/min, detection wavelength at 235 nm, temperature at 40°C. The retention time was found to be 4.8min. The results of analysis have been validated statistically and recovery studies confirmed the accuracy of the developed method according to ICH guidelines (ICH Q2 R1, 2005).The assay percentage of phenytoin in tablet dosage form was found to be (100.79± 1.067) % .The % of recovery was found to be (99.6 – 102.5) %. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantization (LOQ) were found to be 0.00040755mg/cm3 and 0.001235mg/cm3 respectively.

Authors: Mohamed, Azza.I.; Hassan, Elfatih A; Osman, Mohammed.E.; Elhag, Seifeldawla.A.
Abstract: This work aims to study the emulsification and rheological properties of Acacia tortilis var spirocarpa gum. A composite sample of the gum was prepared from samples collected from Aboshmal forest Sharq Elneel, Khartoum state. Emulsions, of two samples, concentrations (5 and 10% w/w) and dioctanoic decanoic glycerol (Octanoic Decanoic triglyceride oil) (ODO), were prepared, by homogenization at 75MPa and stored for 3 and 7 days at 60C. The emulsifying stability was determined by the change in droplet size using a Mastersizer 3000 laser diffraction analyzer. The Emulsification study showed that A. tortilis var. spirocarpa gum is grade 1 emulsifier. The Flow behaviour and dynamic properties for two gum samples, at 25 and 50% w/w concentrations, were determined by applying a shear rate of 0.1-100S-1. Rheological studies of A.tortilis var..spirocarpa showed that the gum had formed a Newtonian fluid at high shear rate and high concentration and the result of oscillatory test of the gum solution revealed a solid-like more than a liquid-like behaviour.

Authors: Omer, RahmaElfadel; Mohamed, Siddig Bushra; Elmahdi, Salih Abdelgadir; Abdrabo, AbdEkarim A.
Abstract: Background: Renal failure (RF) have been recognized as significant medical problems, and also associated with metabolic syndrome.
Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess plasma lipid profile and glucose level among CRF children patients in Khartoum state.
Methodology: This analytical case control hospital based study include 100 subjects 50 were diagnosed with chronic renal failure and 50 was healthy controls, with matched age and sex, the age ranged from 8to 17 years with their mean 12.3 years. Plasma lipid profile and glucose level were measured using fully Automated Chemistry Analyzer (Mindary BS 200). The data were analyzed using SPSS version (21).
Results: The (mean± SD) of duration of disease and BMI in study population were (2.720±1.98, 17.302±3.46) , and also the (mean± SD) of plasma Total cholesterol, trialyceride and glucose level in CRF patients when compared vs healthy controls was significantly increased and it observed a high significant difference, (p-value: (0.003,0.000,0.000), respectively, whereas plasma LDL-C and HDL-C levels presented statistically insignificant relation at (p-value: 0.231, 0.451) respectively. However, the results showed positive correlation between cholesterol and glucose level, as well as between TG and Duration of the Disease, LDL and Glucose(r = 0.280, p = 0.049) (r = 0.032, p = 0.049) (r = 0.377, p = 0.007) respectively, However, no significant correlation was found between Age, BMI and change in serum lipid profile levels. Conclusion: The present study concluded that, the cholesterol, TG and glucose level of the CRF children are higher than control , while LDL, HDL were insignificantly differs from the control groups, However, no correlation was found between age, BMI and change in serum lipid profile levels.
