| dc.description.abstract | A model and a simulation program for the CSMA/CD protocol have been done. The propagation delay was found for a LAN of 150 m link and a suitable number of stations, which gives a considerable throughput, were determined. The results include analysis of the parameters; the time that the channel is busy during simulation period, the time of a packet to be sent, the number of collisions, the number of retransmission attempts, and the link throughput. The study shows that when the station transmitted packets at a fixed value, the first four parameters proportion with network offered load, but inversely with the fifth parameter. Also the study shows that for a LAN with a fixed number of stations, all the parameters obviously proportion with increasing number of station transmitted packets. The accuracy of the simulation has been validated by comparing the obtained results with those reported in the literature. | en_US |
