dc.description.abstract Maintenance costs are considered one of the biggest obstacles that all Industrial firms in Sudan are facing, in which the cost of spare parts and human labour represents the main factors affecting its cost. This research intended to reduce the cost of a model of centrifugal pumps used in sugar factories (kenana sugar factory), and also increasing the life cycle of spare parts through optimal usage of tools and spare parts. By following the different types of maintenance systems. This is done through taking an average cost of maintenance for one pump for the last five years, that include spare parts, wages of labour, which was equivalent to (1400$), and by applying the Simplex Method on it, to reduce the cost of maintenance, while enhancing and increasing the production rate, through optimal usage of spare parts and labour. en_US
