Abstract:
In all segments of industry the route toward increase productivity through increasing the use of automation systems, which may be required to directly increase output quality, or to improve product quality and precision.
Programmable logic controller (PLC) is one of the important devices to achieve such requirements. PLC is digitally operating system, designed for use in an industrial environment which used for internal programmable memory of the user-storage oriented instructions for implementing specific functions such as logic, sequencing, timing, counting and arithmetic operations, to control through digital or analogue inputs and outputs various types of machines or processes. PLC was introduced in 1960 by Bedford Associates the major USA car manufacturer. The primary reason for designing such a device was to eliminate the large cost involved in replacing the complicated relay based for machine control systems.
This research is intended to illustrate steps of programming this important device and focusing on its structure and illustrate a wide range of its applications.
