| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this project is to calculate the Geodetic height using global positioning system point positioning methods . The height (ellipsoidal height) of all points are computed from the Global Positioning System observable . Also for all these points Geodetic heights were determined using direct leveling . The relation between these two type of height is through geoid height (N) it is given as . H = h - N . The contents of the project are partitioned in to five chapters: The first chapter is about an overview of GPS. The system is explained by means of three segments : the space segment , the control segment , and the user segment . The second chapter , describes the planning of GPS survey ,surveying procedure and the selection of the sites . Chapter three , covers the determination of the Geodetic height and description of the geoid , an equipotential surface , an ellipsoid , heights , geoid models , and leveling . Fourth chapter ,deals with calculation of Geodetic heights from ellipsoid heights ( GPS heights) , geoid heights and comparison between Geodetic heights from direct level and Geodetic heights calculated . Chapter five , shows the analysis of the results after calculation. | en_US |
