| dc.description.abstract | This research aimed to study the flavonoids of the heartwood of acacia nilotica var adstringens, acacia nilotica var nilotica and leaves of Lonchocarpus laxiflorus. From the methanolic extract, tow compounds (I and II) were isolated from acacia nilotica var adstringens, two compounds (III and IV) were isolated from acacia nilotica var nilotica and one compound (V) was isolated from the leaves of Lonchocarpus laxiflorus. These compounds were purified by different chromatographic techniques and identified via spectroscopic tools: IR, UV, 1 HNMR and Mass spectroscopy. The isolated compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial potential against gram negative (Escherichia coli & Pseudomonasa eruginos) and gram positive (Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus & Staphylococcus aureus) bacterial and fungal (Candida albicans). All compounds showed varying biological activity except compound V. | en_US |
