Abstract:
Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is the one of the most tumor marker for
detection of prostate cancer, there are many methods to measure the PSA
level in human blood (serum), and however in the current thesis the
Radioimmunoassay (RIA) has been adopted to calculate the PSA level.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the prostate disorders in Sudan
population through the level of PSA as well as to find some correlation
between PSA level and environment, races, habits in addition to major factor
(the age) .
The sample taken for this study consisted of (50) patients from different areas
of Sudan, all were presented with prostate disorder and their ages were in the
range of 45-95 years old. The PSA has been measured at RIA lab in RICK.
The collected parameters were age versus PSA level, habits versus PSA level,
location versus PSA level and Histopathology versus PSA level. Then the
data were analyzed by using the EXCELL program .
The study showed that: the common type of prostate disorders among the
sample was the adeno-carcinoma which represents of 84%.
The common state which had a high incidence of prostate disorders was the
north state which represents 42%.
The common habit associated with prostatic disorders patients among the
sample was the smoke which represents 42%.
The common age group with high PSA level among the sample was (56-66)
years with a level of 80.7 ng/ml.The common type of histopathological associated with a high mean of PSA
.level was the adinocarcinoma with PSA level of 56.1 ng/ml
