dc.description.abstract This study was a cross sectional study ; conducted in Haj Alsafi and Gabir Abu elaiz hospital ,4.5 ml venous blood collected from hundred in trisodium citrate anticoagulant and 2.5 ml in EDTA in Khartoum state in the period from 4\6\2011 to 18\6\2011 to assess platelet count, PT and APTT and the result compared with thirty normal healthy non diabetic individuals and collected data were analyzed by SPSS computer program ,the research revealed the following results: There was significant increased in platelet count in the diabetics patients {mean 171.8×109/L ± SD} when compared with the non-diabetic controls {mean 161.2 ×10 9 / L ±SD } { p.value 0.001 } , there was significant prolongation of APTT in the diabetics { mean 53.8 / second ± SD} when compared with control group { mean 34.5 /second± SD} { p.value 0.000 } and there was significant shortened PT in the diabetics {mean12.7/second ± SD}when compared with control group { mean 13.5 / second ± SD} { p.value 0.003 } . Also there was insignificant increase of platelet count in the diabetic male { mean 174.4 × 10 9/L ± SD } when compared with the diabetic female { mean 169.0 ×10 9/L±SD}{p.value 0.333} , there was insignificant shortened APTT in the diabetics male {mean 53.4/ second ± SD} when compared with the 4 diabetic female {mean54.2 /second ± SD} {p.value 0.617} and there was insignificant prolongation of PT in the diabetics male { mean 12.9 /second ±SD} when compared with the diabetic female { mean 12.5 /second ± SD}{p.value 0.318} . Also there was significant increase of platelet count in the diabetes mellitus type1{ mean 177.8×10 9/L ± SD} when compared with the diabetes mellitus type2 { mean 164.2 ×10 9/L ± SD }{p.value 0.009} , there was insignificant shortened APTT in the diabetes mellitus type1 { mean 53.5 /second ± SD} when compared with the diabetes mellitus type2 { mean 54.1 /second± SD}{p.value 0.711} and there was insignificant prolongation of PT in the diabetes mellitus type1{mean 13.0/second ± SD} when compared with the diabetes mellitus type2 { mean 12.4 / second ± SD}{p.value 0.161} . Also there were insignificant decrease of platelet count×109/L in age less than 45 years { mean 168.4 × 10 9 /L ± SD } when compared with the age more than 45 years {mean 176.3×109/L± SD}{p.value 0.184} , there were significant increase in APTT / second in age less than 45 years {mean 55.5 / second ± SD } when compared with the age more than 45 years { mean 51.5/ second± SD } {p.value 0.020} and there were insignificant decrease of PT/second in age less than 45 years {mean 12.5/second± SD } when compared with the age more than 45 years {mean 12.9/second± SD }{p.value 0.419} . Also there were significant decrease of platelet count ×10 9 /L in patient with diabetes mellitus for less than 20 years { mean 166.8×109/L± SD} when compare with patient with diabetes mellitus for more than 20 years {mean 180.0×10 9/L± SD} {p.value 0.05}, there were insignificant decrease in APTT/second in patient with diabetes mellitus for less than 20 years { mean 52.9 / second ± SD} when compare with patient with diabetes mellitus for more than 20 years{mean55.9/second ±SD} {p.value 0.220} and there were ‫‪insignificant increase in PT / second in patient with diabetes‬‬ ‫} ‪mellitus for less than 20 years { mean 12.9 / second ± SD‬‬ ‫‪when compare with patient with diabetes mellitus for more‬‬ ‫. }143.0 ‪than 20 years {mean 12.4/second ± SD}{p.value‬‬ en_US
