dc.description.abstract This descriptive, cross sectional study aimed to determine prevalence of antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) in the plasma of patients with tuberculosis compared with healthy control population in .Khartoum State Sputum and blood specimens were collected from patients attending Abu Anja Hospital, Elasha’ab Teaching Hospital (both of them are specialized in TB) and Omdurman Teaching Hospital Smear from direct sputum specimens collected from 60 patients (54males and 6females ) with symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis. The smears were stained by Ziehl-Neelson to confirm the infection with tuberculosis. All the samples showed positive results by seeing acid fast .(bacilli (AFB Sixty Blood specimens were collected from those positive patients and twenty eight from other healthy population to serve as negative .controls The presence of (ANCA) was examined in plasma of patient with tuberculosis and healthy population by means of enzyme linked ‫)‪immunosorbent assay(ELISA) to detect anti-myeloperoxidase (MPO‬‬ ‫‪.and anti-proteinase 3(PR3) antibodies‬‬ ‫)%7.64(82 ‪Out of the (60) tuberculosis patients ANCA were present in‬‬ ‫‪while 32 (53.3%) were negative. All of them were MPO positive, and‬‬ ‫3‪.only 6(10%) were positive for PR‬‬ ‫‪This work proves the presence of the antibodies which can be used in‬‬ ‫‪.the diagnosis of the disease‬‬ en_US
