A total of 80 subjects 50 of them were the test group and 30 were the controls, both male and females were involved. A blood samples from each participant were taken, specimens were analyzed for serum uric acid, urea and creatinine. The results were statistically analyzed. The results obtained showed that, there was increased in the means of serum uric acid, urea and creatinine levels among the test group compared with the control group (p < 0.05). According to the BMI there was positive weak correlation between BMI and serum urea and creatinine but not with serum uric acid. The effect of the duration of the disease on the levels of serum uric acid, urea and creatinine , there was positive weak correlation . Also the study shows positive weak correlation of serum uric acid with serum urea levels, but there was negative weak correlation with serum creatinine. In conclusion the present study indicates that there was raised serum levels of uric acid, urea and creatinine in patients with type 2 diabetes and this increased was positive weak correlated with the BMI and the duration of the disease. Levels of increased serum uric acid were positive weak correlated with serum urea and negative weak correlated with serum creatinine. en_US
