dc.description.abstract This is cross-sectional descriptive study which is carried out in Omdurman maternity hospital to identify the values on different hematological parameters of cord blood and reticulocytes count using independent t-test in statistical analysis. Eighty cord blood samples were collected from Omdurman Maternity hospital by experienced midwives well trained in cord blood collection, cord blood samples collected from normal vaginal deliveries and caesarean deliveries before placental delivery. in each baby the following are determine Wight wither mother anemic or not , its gender and type of delivery . The study revealed the hemoglobin mean value of healthy Sudanese cord blood at birth was 13.5 g/dl .Mean of hematocrit level was 41.0 .mean cell volume was 103.9fl, mean cell hemoglobin was 34.2 pg and mean cell hemoglobin concentration was 33.1g/d. The study revealed that means values for red cell count of Sudanese cord blood was3.5 X 1013, Total leukocyte count with mean value of 11.9 x 109/L, mean values of neutrophil and lymphocyte count were 46.6% and 39.9% respectively. mean value of platelet count was 200.4 x 109/L. Over all recticulocyte count was 4.5%, mean reticulocyte production index (RPI)was 3.5. The study revealed that all hematological parameters are within normal reference value but slightly lower than values obtained by other studies. The gender, mother hemoglobin, mode of delivery and babies weight are not influence the values of neonatal cord blood. en_US
