dc.description.abstract This study is case control study was conducted in military hospital and Zenam Diabetes Center in Khartoum state during the period from March to June 2012. 4 The study aimed to compare the plasma level of triglycerides and total cholesterol, fasting blood glucose and HbA1c of 60 Sudanese patients with type 2 Diabetes mellitus (29 male and 31 female) as a test group and 40 Sudanese healthy subjects (18 male and 22 female) as control group, all the participants in this study were matching in term of age. The plasma levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol, fasting blood glucose were measured using Biosystem BTS- 305 spectrophotometer and commercial kits from Biosystem Company. The results were analyzed statically and it is found that the mean of plasma total cholesterol, plasma triglycerides, plasma fasting blood glucose and HbA1c were significant increased in diabetic patients compared with control group (P ≤ 0.050). To assessment the correlation of HbA1c, fasting blood glucose, Cholesterol and triglycerides in type 2 diabetes mallets it was found that there were weak significant correlations between HbA1c and Cholesterol, triglycerides and moderate significant correlations with fasting blood glucose in diabetic patients. To assessment the correlation of body mass index, HbA1c, Cholesterol, triglycerides and fasting blood glucose in type 2 diabetes mallets it was found that there were weak significant correlations between body mass index and Cholesterol, fasting blood glucose and insignificant relationship between body mass index and HbA1c, triglycerides in diabetic patients. From the result of this study it is concluded that: Total Cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting blood glucose, and HbA1c were increased in Diabetic patients compared with non diabetic subjects, this lead to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis. en_US
