This paper aimed at investigating the role of teaching literature in developing EFL Sudanese secondary students’ language skills. The study adopted the descriptive analytical method, the researcher collected data by using pretest-posttest which was given to 30 Sudanese Secondary Schools in  Butana Province . To analyze the data, the researcher has used the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).&#13;
 The findings of the study revealed that teaching literature plays a major role in developing EFL Sudanese secondary school students’ language skills. In light of the findings of the study, the researcher recommended teachers should use literary materials that suit the levels, needs, interest and background knowledge of the students , teachers should expose the students to socio-cultural, factual and contextual knowledge of the target language, moreover, teachers should encourage students to interact with literary works in order to develop their language skills.

The study aimed to investigate the impact of extensive reading on improving Sudanese university students' vocabulary learning. Vocabulary is very important for students to practise the language as a mean of communication. Therefore, extensive reading is one of vocabulary learning strategies as extensive reading enables students to enrich their vocabulary and to overcome the difficulties and their weakness of vocabulary .The researcher used descriptive analytical method to achieve the objectives and aims of the study and questionnaire is used as tool for data collection which showed the opinions and views of students .The population of the study was chosen from students who are studying in the second year, college of Languages – English language section at Sudan University of Science and Technology.  The study findings showed the importance of extensive reading for learning and improving vocabulary and it is an effective way for learning vocabulary, in addition to the skills and techniques that are important students to learn language. So, the researcher recommended students to read extensively in order to widen their choices for improving their vocabulary and to overcome the weakness of vocabulary as extensive reading encourages and help them to avoid the boredom of reading process.

This study aimed at investigating the influence of using Communicative Language teaching Approach in improving speaking skill. The researchers adopted the descriptive analytical method, pre-post test has been used as primary tool for data collection. The sample of study were students at Hamaza Ibn Almatalib secondary school for boys. Umbeddah Locality. The researcher applied a Chi-Squared test to animalize and verify the hypothesis. The results of the study shown that students’ communicative competence was highly progressed because pair and group work had provided students sufficient time to overcome anxiety, fearful criticism, and build students’ self-confidence. The researcher recommended that teachers should be well-trained in implementing CLT approach. On the other hand, students should be given an ample time to practice the activities in the classroom.

This study aimed  at investigating the impact of using ‘‘Role play strategy’’ on  developing students  speaking skill. The researcher adopted experimental method. A pre-post tests has been used as primary tool for data collection, Mp3 recorded was implemented for measuring students’ pronunciation. The researcher applied (SPSS) program for analyzing and testing the hypothesis. The results of the study have shown that, role play strategy has  improved students speaking skills, and a lot of  problems have been solved such as students’ classroom time pressure, the use of mother tongue, classroom overcrowded, anxiety and lack of confidence. Finally, the researcher recommended that: Teachers should give students a chance to practice communication inside and out of classroom.
