Estimation of Complete Blood Count and Platelet Indices In Sudanese patients with Malaria
Othman, Ashwag Abdallah; Belal, Reham Hassan; Supervisor,- Mudather Abd-Alraheam Al-Bashir
This cross sectional descriptive study was conducted in sudan to identify the values and different hematological parameter in malaria patients this include complete blood count and platelet indices . Ninty five blood sample and fifty control sample are collected 2.5 ml blood from each individual into K2EDTA containers .The final result showed statistically significant difference in the mean hemoglobin and hematocrit level between malaria patient (Hb 13.2g/dl ± 2.1, HCT 39.4 % ± 5.6) and control (Hb14.2±1.8 ,HCT±41.3±4.6), p. value of Hb = 0.005) (P. value of HCT= 0.041) ,and the malaria patients are associated with normocytic normochromic anemia . It showed there was significant differences in platelet count and platelet indices between malaria patient (platelet count 190.7 x 10 9/L ± 102, PDW13.5fl ± 2.4, P.LCR 26.8% ± 6.6) and control (platelet count 269.1 ± 63.7, PDW11.9 ± 1.7, P.LCR 23.7 ± 6.6), ( P .value of platelet count = 0.000 , P .value of PDW = 0.000 ,P. value of P.LCR=0.012).
This study also showed difference in mean platelet count and platelet indices according to severity of infection was highly statistically significant according to ANOVA test (platelet count 190.7 x 10 9/L ±102, P .value = 0.000)( PDW 13.5 fl ± 2.4 , P .value = 0.00) (p.lcr 26.8 %± 6.6, P .value= 0.012) but there was no statistical different in MPV(10.0 fl ± 1.2, P .value= 0.296).
Also there was no statistical different in WBCS count between malaria patient (6.3 x 10 9/L ± 2.1) and control (6.79±1.9),( P .value = 0.163) and RBCS count between malaria patient (4.9x 10 12/L ± 0.7) and control(9.8 ± 0.6),(P .value = 0.498).
The study showed no statistical different in all parameter in comparison with age groups and gender.
Finally all this hematological changes enables the clinician to establish an effective and early therapeutic intervention in order to prevent the occurance of major complication .

Analytical descriptive cross sectional was conducted to study the frequency of ABO and Rh (D) blood groups on diabetic patients in the period from November 2013 to June 2014.
500 sample were collected from diabetic patients in Khartoum state, all samples were collected into (2.5 ml) EDTA anticoagulant, then tested for ABO and Rh Ag, the result were analyzed using (SPSS) computerized program.
We found that the O blood group is the most frequent (202) (40.4%), followed by A (160) (32%), B (111) (22.2%) and then AB (27) (5.4%).
The majority of patients are positive for Rh (D) (96.4%).

The aim of this study was to measure the mean Hemoglobin and
Hematocrit among apparently healthy Students in Sudan University of Science
and Technology.
Total number of samples were 500 ( 251 Males - 249 Females ) .in age group
(17-25) years.
EDTA anticoagulant venous blood samples was collected from each subject
the parameters were measured by using JENWAY calorimeter 6051 for Hb
measurements and Hettich ZentrifuGen D – 78532 tuttingen for HCT .
Analysis was done in laboratories of Sudan university . Computerized
statistical package for social science ( version 16 ) was used for data
processing .
A questionnaire was fulfilled by each subject .
The result of study show that :-
Mean Hemoglobin in males was (12.9 g/dl ) ranged between ( 9.3- 16.5 g/dl)
with P. value (.0000)and in Females ranged between (8 – 14 g/dl) with mean
(11.2 g/dl) with p . value (.000) . Mean Packed Cell Volume in males was
(46% ) ranged between( 37 -55 %) whears in females it was (40 %) and ranged
between (30.8 - 49.2 %) . With p. value (0.000)
-The results obtained show that the mean hemoglobin and packed cell
volume were significantly decreased in females when compared with males .

Abd Alkareem, Walla Abd Alraouf; Mohammed, Leila Altahir; Supervisor,- Mohammed Abd Elrhim Abd Allah
Diabetes Mellitus is chronic metabolic disorder that is associated
with cardiovascular complication of which the metabolic syndrome play
prominent role lipid profile has been show to be an important predicator
for metabolic disturbances including dyslipidaemia, diabetes mellitus
and cardiovascular.
Across sectional study conducted during the period from march 2014 to
august 2014 in Jaber Abu Allizz center , compared the plasma level of
total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol in type two diabetic patients . Forty
diabetic patients 26 males and 14 females were compared to twenty
normal healthy individuals as control group.
The level of plasma total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol show
significant increase in test group (p-value = 0.00) when compared with
control group.
The study show insignificant difference between the mean of the level of
plasma total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol of test group in both sexes,
The result of this study is conclude that the Diabetes Mellitus increase the
plasma level of total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol that lead to increase
risk of cardiovascular disease compared to healthy group.
