Abstract:
The aim of this research is to study the effect of corrosion in steel reinforcement on Service life design of concrete structures.
In this investigation we studied the critical columns in the ground story of the main structure which exposed to different ratios of corrosion [0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 14% , 16% , 18%] [in accordance to ductility variation].
It became evident from the analysis result for the shear force and moment redistribution. Thus for ultimate load carrying capacity and the ratio of corrosion in the area of steel reinforcement is 16% and no ductility change is the worst (limited) result. This datum result is equal to 1507 KN, but the structure is not safe in the ratio of 18% corrosion in area of steel. Moreover the reduction in rebar ductility influences the stability of the structure and the stiffness of it. Accordingly, the decrease in the degree of ductility directly affects the carrying capacity and then lead to the rapid deterioration of structure.
