Abstract:
In this study the researcher assessed the effectiveness of conventional
X-ray, and computed tomography in diagnosis of paranasal sinuses diseases
and compared between these two modalities when they are applied for the
same case.
This study is conducted at ear-nose-throat departments in each of
Khartoum Hospital and IbnSinna Hospital, also at conventional X-ray
departments ts and computed tomography departmen ts in Khartoum.
Random samples of fifty patients males and females with different
ages, and symptoms where chosen conventional X-ray, and computed -
tomography examinations were done to them
This study was extended from January 2004 up to August 2004.
Some of these cases, had the same diagnosis by the two modalities,
while the majority of them diagnosed only by C.T scan especially the earlier
cases.

It can be said that the conventional X-ray examination has a role in
the diagnosis of paranasal sinuses diseases, but C.T scan is better and more
sensitive than it.
