dc.description.abstract The main objective of this study is to compare between the effects of iodinated (nonic and nonionic) contrast agents or media, which are used intravenously in radiological examinations on the WBCs, RBCs and platelet count and measuring erdiscovering which of them is more effective (ionic or nonionic). This study has been conducted on 12 patients (7 female and 5 male) randomly; their age ranging from 30 to 71 years of age. They underwent examinations are (I.V.U. or C.T. abdomen). Blood samples were taken before contrast agent injected, and after thirty minutes later. The samples were examined in a laboratory investigation (complete haemogram). The result of investigation showed a difference between the two readings either increasing or decreasing in both types of contrast medium. It was observed the change within normal limit of WBCs, RBCs and platelet counts; the change has however, not exceeded the normal limit when using 40 ml of contrast media. It was also noticed that the change is not constant. e.g. in WBCs count when using an ionic contrast agent its found that in some cases an increase has occurred and in others there was a decrease. This supports that the difference in effectiveness is due to an error in the apparatus which was used for investigation. en_US
