Health and Safety Management in Construction Industry

Abstract

Construction industry is one of the world's major industries which remains a major employer of labor whether the percentage of construction workers may reach to 20% from society, that makes the necessity for protecting workers from construction accidents and occupational diseases by health and safety management in construction industry. This thesis aims to address the issue of health and safety management in detail and the establishment of an integrated program in health and safety to prevent or minimize the occurrence of accidents and occupational diseases and work-related injuries while performing work in the construction industry in Sudan. This is done through the implementation of steps safety program ideally including the development of an integrated plan for health and safety at the site and regular meetings to educate workers regarding health and safety, training and provide tools Health and Safety Active and others, should also implement the business properly. This research examines the pros and having health and safety management, which is the health and safety of workers good and improve the efficiency and performance of workers and boost their morale and create an atmosphere practical and ideal environment risk-free. The study also cons lack of health and safety management, which is reflected in the presence of risks that threaten the lives and health of employees and loss and occupational diseases and work-related injuries. To arrive to these objectives had been selected the V method of questionnaire to collect and analyze data to prove the need for a health and safety management in construction industry. The research focuses on health and safety management in construction industry especially in Sudan. The research divided into five chapters as follow: Chapter one : general explanation of problem of the research, its objectives and hypothesis. Chapter two : contains several definitions as management, health and safety and construction industry, also discusses some related issues. Chapter three : contains some regulations of health and safety and most procedures and requirements to implement health and safety management. Chapter four : about the questionnaire, its analysis and discussions. Chapter five : contains conclusion, recommendations, references and appendix
