Abstract:
Fuzzy Logic control (FLC) is one of the three basic approaches to
intelligent control, the others are: knowledge-based expert systems and
neural networks.
In this thesis, the differences between classical control and intelligent
control theories were introduced, including the control system design
procedure in both of them.
The main objective of this thesis is to illustrate the basic structure of
FLC controllers and their different ways of implementations, taking the
direct control scheme – non-adaptive – structure in detail.
The design of a direct digital fuzzy logic controller for the speed
control system model (PC based control of a PM DC motor with
microcontroller embedded software) was considered. The results of which –
when compared with the results of classical PID controller – shows the
superior of FLC over the classical PID controller.
