Abstract:
The three phase induction motor drive is a dynamic, nonlinear system and its
difficult to controlled due to nonlinearity and uncertainty in the machine
parameters. The aim of this study is to improve tracking performance of the
induction motor drive. A method for controlling induction motor drive is
presented such as Conventional Proportional-Integral (PI) controller and Artificial
Neural Networks (ANNs) controller.
Using MATLAB/SIMULINK software, three phase induction motor model is
built for the simulation studies. Also performance of the controllers has been
verified through simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The ANNs is
trained so that the speed of the drive tracking the reference speed.
The ANNs controller enhances the performance and dynamics of the induction
motor compared to conventional PI controller.
