dc.description.abstract This is a hospital based study conducted to evaluate the red cell parameters among the Sudanese patients with chronic renal failure in Khartoum state during the period between January 2011- April 2011 . 100 patients were enrolled in and they were consented and informed about the study and expected out comes. Then a questionnaire was distributed to collect the information about patient's age, sex, and other diseases. Then 5 ml of venous blood were taken from patients in ethylene diamene tetra acetic acid (EDTA) anticoagulated test tubes and were used to evaluate the red cell parameters HB, PCV, RBCs count and Red Cell Indices . 62% of patients were anemic and 38% of participants with CRF have normal peripheral blood picture. The patients were investigated for red cell parameters compared with control as shown in table (3-2), showed that there is decrease in the concentration of HB, PCV, RBCs count and MCHC and is significant. The means of Hb, PCV, RBCs count and MCHC in patients are 10.4, 32.3, 3.5, 32.1 respectively. For control the means are 13.6, 41.4 , 4.5, 32.9 respectively, with higher level of significance, i.e. the p-value is less than 0.05. For MCV and MCH the means of patients group are 92.5, 29.7 respectively and for control group are 91.2, 29.9 respectively, and there is no significant difference between patients and control i.e. the p-value is more than 0.05 Conclusion: The results suggested that Red Cell Parameters were affected by chronic renal failure en_US
