dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to evaluate the lower back pain by using magnetic resonance imaging )MRI) 1.5 T in Khartoum state. The study was started from September to December. 54 patients) 26 male, 28 female). The mean and standard deviation for age, weight, height, and duration, was 46.57 ±15.3(years), 71.75 ±11.5 (kg), 166.3 ±9.3(cm), 4.5±4.4 (years) Respectively with lower back pain. They were investigated by MRI (L/S MRI) to evaluate the lower back pain. The data was collected from Alamal diagnostic center and Antalya medical center. Then the data was analyzed and discussed. The study showed that the correlation between the subject’s age, weight and height and lower backache duration shows a linear relationship between the sample age, weight, height and lower back pain duration. The results show that 31 cases with disc bulge, 10-disc degeneration and 7 disc prolapsed on MRI. Finally the researcher conclude that imaging studies (MRI) are helpful in cases of lower back pain but they aren’t the only factor to determine low back etiology, for that proper history and clinical examination are very necessary to determine which type of imaging is need, and it will also allow the technologist to focus the effort of the examination at the proper disc levels. en_US
