Abstract:
This study "The Role of Television in the Development of Teaching Oral Comprehension Skills" is a real experience carried out on a number of students of French Language Department, Faculty of Education - Sudan University for Science and Technology. A sample of 30 students of a medium level of the language was selected, according to the new classification of linguistic levels adopted by The European Union "Cadre Européan Commun de Référence".
The problem considered by this study is the low level of oral understanding, so the researcher hypothesized that the lack of using multimedia in language classes causes this problem, therefore the use of television in language classes can be the main solution for this problem, and can contribute to the development of the oral understanding skill.
We do not mean by television the educational television, which already produces and designs educational programs, such as those Egyptian channels as the Higher Educational Channel and the Nile Educational Channel. We mean here, the medium multi social, cultural, political, economic and sporting programs. Therefore, we have selected the French Channel TV5 because of its high transmission in the Middle East through Nile Sat satellite.
Through practical experience with the students, which took 30 educational hours, the study concluded to that television played an important role in the development of oral understanding skills, through the organization of lectures to upgrade that skill using a number of television programs.
