dc.description.abstract The objective of this study is to characterize the kidney’s appearance in patients with uncountable pus cells laboratory test. This study was done on 50 patients suffering from symptoms of renal infection with positive lab. Test .in military hospital Omdurman between 20-12-2011to 9-4-2012. All patients with uncountable puss cells were included in the study and those with normal laboratory Tests were excluded. All patients’ kidneys were scanned in sagital coronal, and cross section. The length width and depth were registered. Each exam was documented in thermal image. All patients were evaluated sonographically using ALOKA3500 machine with convex low frequency transducer 3.5MHz. Data was collected using the following variables: pt. Age, kidney size, echogenicity, cortex (normal or bright), PCS (normal or thick), corticomedullary differentiation (good or poor).patients age included in the study was between 15-65yrs old. loss of corticomedullary differentiation, and bright cortex. There was no significant change in the size of the kidneys of the affected patients. Ultrasound as a unique imaging modality is not enough for evaluation of patients with suspected different types of renal infection. en_US
