Abstract:
ABSTRACT
The main objective of study was to analyse and idintify the impact of
gender and socio-economic characteristics on adoption of water harvest
techniques by using terraces or contour line technique in Jebel area in
Rashad Locality.
The study employed some independant variables like age ,education,
income and others, and some of dependant variable like skill of the
respondent in terrace building .
Primary data were collected through personal questionnaire of
community development committee members.
Systematic random stratified had been followed to select the sample
size of 125 respondents. Statistical analysis techniques (SPSS) such as
percentage ,chi square and other used to identify the impact of the varible
used .
The results of the study revealed that about 55,2 % of the respondants
wer men , while 44.8% were women . 70.4% of the respondants used
to built contour lines by using triangle and water measure , while
14.4% of women used this techniques. Most of the men wer used to
repair contour lines before the rainy season , while the women repair
the contour lines within the rainy season .
The study offered some recommendations but most important is that;
more attention should be given to water harvest technique at Jebl area
and the application of a triangle and water measure in terraces build
.Training about this techinqes on other simmillar areas.
