dc.description.abstract This research attempts to develop an Arabic Plagiarism Detection (APD) Tool, which would protect the intellectual property of the Arabic researchers and authors in universities, scientific research institutes, newspapers, magazines and publishing houses. There are many tools which have been used to detect the plagiarism such as Gallt Plagiarism Program and EVE2 Plagiarism Detection for Teachers. These systems were developed only for English, while other programs were adapted to deal with French, German and Chinese languages. However, for the Arabic language such tools are still under development and no commercial products are available yet. In this research an APD Tool has been developed. It is based on Winnowing Local Document Fingerprinting Algorithm. It has been adapted for Arabic and tested using three essays written by a class of Students .The APD Tool identified the suspected plagiarism accurately and identified more cases of plagiarism than the experienced teacher . en_US
