during the winter season 2004-2005 in a field infested by halouk
(Orobanche ramosa). Four cultivars of tomato (California, Asgro,
.Super red and Nigara) were tested for its tolerance to Broomrape
The results revealed that all the Cultivars were infected by
.Orobanche ramosa
The Cultivar Nigara gave the highest yield 9147 kg/feddan,
followed by cultivar California 7094 kg/feddan, then cultivar
Asgro 6533 kg/feddan and lastly cultivar super red gave 5413
kg/feddan The productivity of the four cultivars used were higher
compared to Strain B cultivar which is usually cultivated by
farmers in soils infested by Orobanche ramosa, its yield is 2000
kg/feddan in infested soil and 6500 kg/feddan in non infested
