Abstract:
Objectives: The study aimed to measure the
frequencies of ABO ,Rh .D & Kpa ,K pb
.phenotypes among the Dinka ethnic group
.TheStudy
design
is
descriptive
cross
sectional study conducted during the period
from 1st April to 30th June2007.
Method: A total of 100 unrelated persons
from this tribe were investigated by direct
agglutination technique for ABO& Rh.D
grouping
&96
persons
tested
by
gel
immunodifution technique for Kpa,Kpb Kell
antigens phenotyping.
Results: The study revealed that the highest
frequency blood group phenotype in the
study population is group O (50%) followed
by group A.(23%),group B (18%)and lastly
AB (9%)
.Kpb Kell antigens found in all individuals of
the study population whereas Kpa antigens
were not found on erythrocytes of this ethnic
group
Conclusion: The study concluded that ABO
&RhD phenotypes in Dinka tribe were found
to be close that of blacks of U.S. A and
negrose of Africa and unlike that of
European population. C
