Abstract:
Phytochemical screeing of the alcoholic extract of the leaves of Mimosa pigra indicated the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids and steroids. The flavonoids of Mimosa pigra were investigated and the product obtained from the alcoholic extract was subjected to thin-layer chromatography, which indicated the presence of a single flavnoid, flavonoid (I), which was isolated in the pure state. The UV spectrum of flavonoid I and its colour reactions indicated that it is a catchin. Also the flavonoids, of Ipomoea equita, were investigated and the product obtained from the alcoholic extract was subjected to thin-layer chromatograpy, which indicated the presence of a single flavonoid, flavonoid (II), which was isolated in pure state.
