Abstract:
ABSTRACT
The world has been changed significantly by telecommunication technologies that
help people to be better connected and more efficiently communicated. Today,
telecommunication industry is migrating to the road map of technology which
means a variety of technologies will be utilized together in order to maximize user
experiences.
One possibility is to use 3G technology when wireless LANs are not available and
seamlessly switch between these technologies to provide improved and transparent
connectivity. Currently there is no protocol to switch between heterogeneous
networks. From the above mentioned a motivation was created to produce a
framework to start from and to be used to find adequate clues to this issue.
The aim of this thesis is to provide an overall picture of Seamless Mobility from
high level, particularly critical technologies in Seamless Mobility –WLAN, GPRS
and UMTS – were detailed illustrated from technical, market and regulation
perspectives. The available interconnection scenario that can be used on the
present infrastructure was proposed in form of framework, and the proposed
solution was tested finally according to the available networks in the local market
of operators, and performance result were presented and evaluated.
